Miami Yacht Show & Miami International Boat Show Will Combine For 2022
Despite the 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show taking place as planned, major U.S. boat shows are not following suit. As COVID-19 cases rise in the country, an increasing number of yachting events have been cancelled and postponed due to health and safety concerns. Two events that were cancelled were the Miami Yacht Show 2020 1 and the Miami International Boat Show 2021.
Both Shows Delayed Due to COVID-19 Concerns
Both the Miami Yacht Show and the Miami International Boat Show were originally scheduled to take place on February 11 to 15, 2021. At first, the organizers of the Miami Yacht Show, Informa Markets, did not rule out postponing the event for a later date in 2021. On the other hand, organizers for the international boat show, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), announced a cancellation of their event. Eventually, these two organizers decided to join forces.
The NMMA & Informa Markets Partnership
On January 13, NMMA and Informa Markets announced they would be joining forces to host a joint event. This premier South Florida yachting event would combine the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), the Miami Yacht Show (MYS), and Superyacht Miami. This merger will create one of the largest marine events in the world and is scheduled to make its debut on February 16, 2022.
“For 80 years, the Miami International Boat Show has served as the recreational boating industry’s flagship event and a prized platform to showcase world-class products and innovations to nearly 100,000 people across the globe. With NMMA’s new partnership with Informa Markets, together, we will take the show to the next level and deliver an unforgettable experience for our members, attendees, exhibitors, and the local community for decades to come.” – Frank Hugelmeyer, NMMA President3
The four-day mega boat show will take place over President’s Day weekend from February 16 to February 20, 2022. In-water events will be located in downtown Miami at Sea Isle Marina, One Herald Plaza, and Island Gardens Deep Harbour on Watson Island. On-land portions of this unparalleled 2022 event will take place at the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center as well as Miami Beach’s Pride Park.
“Bringing the Miami Yacht Show, Superyacht Miami and Miami International Boat Show together collectively under our management will allow us to leverage the talent and resources of all three shows to provide an unparalleled experience that provides exponential growth for marine manufacturers and enthusiasts, and provides a seamless experience for visitors and exhibitors alike.” – Andrew Doole, Informa Markets US Boat Shows President4
