Systems Checks and Start-Ups

When you bring your yacht to our Fort Lauderdale marina, one of the first things we’ll do is perform a full system check – what we call a 20-point inspection. Before our yacht maintenance experts start any repair jobs or other projects on your boat, they must complete this 20-point yacht maintenance checklist. During this full system check, our qualified technicians inspect numerous systems and individual items both inside and outside your yacht.

Our extensive yacht maintenance checklist ensures all your vessel’s systems – from electrical systems to engines, generators, and more – are properly inspected and tested for optimal performance. Whether you need to a full system check on a vessel you already own or you’re in the process of buying a yacht and need a pre-purchase boat inspection or used boat inspection service, trust our 20-point inspection and startup procedures to identify any issues.

Yacht Management’s 20-point inspection is separated into ten focus areas, which are listed below. Our yacht management and maintenance personnel will diligently go through the multiple tasks listed under each of these categories and check them off after they are successfully completed. By executing our 20-point boat systems checklist plus any necessary generator and yacht engine startups, we’ll ensure your yacht is splash ready in no time!

Exterior

The exterior of a yacht is the first thing you and everyone else will see. Obviously, you’ll want to maintain the appearance of your yacht’s exterior. Many elements found in your vessel’s exterior also have functional uses. To make sure you yacht looks good and functions effectively on the outside, our technicians will check for any scratches, tears, or any other surface damage. They’ll also inspect your fenders, lines, and a variety of other components.

Batteries

Dead or severely depleted batteries are useless for your yacht. Our yacht maintenance experts will check the condition of your boat’s batteries and multiple other elements connected to them. They’ll especially look out for any signs of water leaks and corrosion. It’s important to test your marine generator starting procedure, which our team will do by conducting the necessary battery starts as well as starting your vessel’s emergency generators to ensure reliable performance.

Helm

The helm serves as the navigation hub for a yacht’s captain when underway. Its typically where the captain steers the vessel. Making sure the helm is maintained and in working order is critical for safe and successful cruising. Today’s helms are much more modernized than their older counterparts – multiple digital navigation interfaces are now staples. During our full system check, our technicians inspect that electronic equipment, in addition to many other elements of the helm.

Bilge Pumps

Working bilge pumps are critical for keeping your yacht clean and afloat. Without working bilge pumps, excessive amounts of water, dirt, and oil can collect at the bottom of your vessel. That’s why our yacht maintenance experts are sure to inspect your bilge pumps regularly.

Our yacht maintenance personnel will diligently go through the multiple tasks listed under each of these categories and check them off after they are successfully completed.

Seacocks

During a 20-point boat inspection checklist, our technicians will check on the condition of all your yacht’s seacocks and any other marine valves that permit water to flow into your vessel.

Motors

The focus area that usually takes the most time to inspect, motors are obviously an essential part of your yacht. Our full system check covers inspections of your vessel’s engine, engine room, and generators. Fuel levels, oil checks, and run engine tests are just some of the tasks that are performed under this category.

Marine Engine Startups

The boat evaluations that make up our 20-point yacht maintenance checklist also include yacht engine startups. During a marine engine startup, our team of certified specialists will go through all the steps of starting your vessel’s engines in order to detect any issues or potential issues. Identifying these issues and determining how to fix them is why yacht engine startups are a vital part of our full system check.

Interior General

The interior spaces of your yacht are what make up your home away from home. To maintain a high level of luxury for you and your guests, everything from electronics and appliances must be kept in working order. That’s why our 20-point boat systems checklist includes inspecting your yacht’s interior.

Sanitation

A more specific category of interior inspection, this step in our full system check focuses on all plumbing and fresh water systems. Regular maintenance of showers, toilets, water tanks, and more are necessary for a stress-free yachting experience.

A/C Systems

When you are cruising the warm and sunny waters of the Caribbean, there’s nothing you want less than for your air conditioning to stop working. It’s easy to see why our full system check covered inspections of the A/C systems in your yacht.

Safety Equipment

All boats are required to have safety equipment and supplies in case of an emergency. Keep your mind at ease – our yacht maintenance experts will make sure your yacht is fitted with enough safety gear like flares, life vests, and other emergency supplies.
